Expanding his knowledge

Steven started his studies at AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance), to hone his craft but found that he was learning more being on set than being at university. However, he knuckled down and finished his degree with distinction, awarded the Dean’s List award and won Best Actor.Steven humbly avoids attention when he points out that this feat is not all that important in the real world. During his years at AFDA he would shoot films, adverts, modeling, teaching at modeling agencies and perform on stage at his old theater where he eventually became the Director of Music, Head of Cast, and Co-Director.He noticed he kept going back to his place of comfort and felt he was no longer growing or learning anything new. So, he called up Bonnie-Lee Bouman and asked if she can assist him to get some experience as an assistant in casting. He realised he needed to experience the other side of the industry to better understand what he does on camera. Timing was perfect as Bonnie was able to make him an offer. He worked there for a good while and learnt more in a few months then he ever did in three years of his degree. This education was undeniably invaluable.Bonnie went from being his coach to his boss to his mentor and now to his advisor and friend.
