Breaking the Status Quo

Steven gradually worked his way up the “ranks” till finally he got to play the Lead in a show. Tshwane Youth Theatre - formerly known as Pretoria Youth Theatre, had become a good balance between Pantomime and Children’s Theater.
He played a mad professor in a small production, and the once towering human, mentioned before happened to be directing this show. He stood proud and ready to face this challenge in the eyes of his hero. It was a great start as he entertained the audience & made them laugh. Cue the director… Steven was torn apart after the show for breaking the forth wall. This sparked the second reason Steven stayed with this profession. He no longer wanted to be like his idol, he wanted to be better. So he became better. He pushed to the point where audience members would call in advance to find out if he is performing. He became a big fish in a small pond; playing roles from the Prince to the Evil Step Mother, even two characters in the same show at times. He was everywhere, from performing three different shows a year in 1998 to five shows through different companies from Gauteng to Mpumalanga. This took priority over his studies and became his education.
