Rift Film Review by Michaela Blackman – 10/10 Stars
The visual effects first of all were outstanding for this level of film making- a huge step up compared to previous years at AFDA. Believable and well blended. The shots used were fantastic, really creative and beautiful and in themselves managed to clearly purvey the story line. The set design was authentic and managed to capture the feel of each scene well. The costume design and Sfx makeup was great and really added an extra element to each character.
The story itself was a cool concept and time travel is always a winner (that’s just me being objective, science fiction is my jam!)
The actors were awesome and really talented. I sometimes feel with AFDA actors, they can be very stiff and their dialogue can come out very static and fake but not with this movie, dialogue flowed well and emotions and reactions were on point. The music and sound was really great and it helped the story seamlessly transition from one scene to another without that awkward stop/start thing that I have seen other movies have. Also THE VOLUMES WERE PERFECT!
Overall I really enjoyed this and I am glad I watched it. Thank you to the team who pulled this off!
