We use to work together at the Pretoria Youth Theatre. Steven was both actor and head of cast and I was the Stage Manager and head of technical. He instills so much confidence in everyone he meets. Once he has made a commitment, he never lets up and always sees his commitments through.
I won't forget the day when he was in a car accident and we had had 3 performances on that day. There was Steven acting as if nothing had happened.
He has a strong sense of friendship and what it means to be a great friend. We would sit for hours at one of his get-togethers chatting about everything from wine to the colour of grass.
His worst trait would be that he procrastinates. He sometimes forgets to keep things organized. He easily can leave things to the last minute.
When it comes to music Steven has always got a tune in his head or always humming along to a song. When we were at the Pretoria Youth Theatre, Steven was always the one leading the song rehearsals and helping the younger actors along. Music is a big part of who he is.
He is such a Wine connoisseur. I think wine is one thing that would be difficult to give up if he had to.
He was destined for the USA. He can pull off many accents. But for some reason when he needs to say something serious he always uses an American accent.
Although we were not the best at sports, we played a bit of golf together… Or let's say we tried; hitting into the water was always our weakness. We also enjoyed a rugby game or two as well.
Steven and I were always the ones to head up any mischief at the Pretoria Youth Theatre. We made the other actors laugh when they were on stage. Played pranks on actors just for fun. We tried to keep it interesting and keep everyone on their toes.
That’s just something about Steven he takes his work seriously but having fun is a big part of what he does.
